« on: Friday 23 October 20 14:11 BST (UK) »

There is a Baptism for:

James William Wilson at St George in Hulme, 1860,  Mother Fanny Wilson, spinster, abode Openshaw.

I can't find them on the Census, - can anyone on here see them please?

Cheers, Romilly.

Many thanks both, for looking.

That’s sad that he died so young, but perhaps his mother didn’t have any choice but to board him out?

Hulme was a pretty grim place at that time so infancy deaths were sadly very common.

A lot of my Wife’s direct ancestors lived there.

For an idea on what life was like there is a pretty good vlogumentary on the area just to the North East of Hulme that was called Little Ireland.

BUT we appear to have two children -

Romilly states JAMES William Wilson, baptised in 1860 (I cannot readily find his baptism from the images available on Ancestry - but that might just be me!) the son of Fanny Wilson of Openshaw.

Heywood gives his name as JOHN William Wilson in the burial 3 August 1861 (image is available on Ancestry) and he is said to be 8 months old, the son of Fanny Wilson and an address of 27 Hargreaves Street.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Many thanks all for looking.

BumbleB, I think the mistake was mine, - Ancestry say John William Wilson. I was looking for variants of William James/James William Wilson, born Manchester 1860/‘61...

I’ve been trying to find him for 40+ years now:-(
William James Wilson (1860 - 1937) Born Manchester, was my paternal Grandfather.

I give up every now and again, - but was just checking to see if anything new had come up.

Romilly.
