And what could be a burial for their father, William Bishop: -
Burial:-
19 Sep 1817 • All Saints, West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England
Register entry number: 730. William Bishop, age 28. Burial Person Abode: Harveys Hawthorn. Source: FreeReg
This would explain why there were no more children after Jane. As my 4th great grandfather died aged 28, this would put him as being born around 1789. Did he die as a result of an accident at the Colliery or from an illness? Apart from finding these records on FreeReg, I cannot find any records for William Bishop (1789 - 19 Sept 1817) and Hannah ? on Ancestry and Family Search
I have been unable to find records of their marriage apart from this one, also found on FreeReg: -
5 Nov 1809 at St. Mary's, Handworth. Groom: William Bishop. Bride: Hannah ? Witness 1: John Lawley. Witness 2: Mary Greaves. Notes: Brides surname is impossible to read on Birmingham Archives microfiche image. Groom, Bride & both Witnesses all sign X. Transcribed by Sandra Cooper.
But there's a gap of having no children between their marriage date and the first child, Sarah Bishop ...?
On the 1861 Census record for Mary Ann's sister, widowed Jane Bishop age 44 (who married Joseph Woolley on 5 Aug 1839 at All Saints, West Bromwich), there is another widow, Hannah Pugh age 72 living with Jane and her sons. Could this Hannah Pugh be Jane, Mary Ann and Sarah's mother? I have looked up for a marriage for Hannah Pugh and not having any luck so far.
Please could some one advise me where to go from here?
