CdV of small child, date please?
« on: Tuesday 03 November 20 09:01 GMT (UK) »
I really can't work out what this child is supposed to be wearing  :-\

I have one other CdV by McAllan on this cardstock, which was dated to late 1860's.

A very similar cardstock appears here, l-h end of row three https://web.archive.org/web/20070203061150/http://www.cartes.freeuk.com/time/back60.htm

Was this vignette style being used at this time?

Any help with dating would be valued.  Many thanks  :)

Thank you both  :)

I wonder what the child thought of being dressed up in that outfit?

I'm not so sure that it's a girl, the child looks more like a boy  :-\

I keep seeing that hat as a cap worn sideways but that can’t be right.  :)

I was wondering if the hat and scarf/wrap could be traditional clothing from another country - Turkey? Morocco? He doesn’t seem to be wearing a full costume though. Might they be a photographer’s prop?

I imagine they were props. I thought there might be a cockade on the side of the headgear?
Is it some sort of faux-Scottish outfit?
For some reason I also thought it was a boy.
Here's a snip.
