1939 Register
« on: Thursday 05 November 20 07:57 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if a Register similar to the one for England and Wales, was produced by NI in or around that year, please? If so, where can it be found?
Thanks,
OzzieJoan

You can make an application under FOI to get a record for an address, but it is not online like the one for the rest of the UK.

It does say on that link that it is not currently available - FOI requests still not being processed.

Scotland's 1939 Register is not on-line. You can order an official extract here-

Claire Santry's page for the 1939 register is not completely up-to-date with regard to Northern Ireland. PRONI is currently closed to the public due to Covid-19.
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/proni

When PRONI re-opens, you can submit a 1939 register enquiry using this form:
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/forms/proni-enquiry
You must give an address for the individual so that they can search for the relevant page.
They will reply by e-mail.

You've posted in Ireland Resources which is not for queries. Just click on 'report to moderator' and ask for this thread to be moved to correct board (Ireland- General).

Others have asked about the 1939 Register for Northern Ireland and Elwyn has explained why it's different to the one for England and Wales (and thus not online), etc.- see reply #16

I submitted a request for a 1939 entry at the end of September/beginning of October on the form specified, but assuming that the information about the FOI was still accurate and so was wondering what response I would get.  There is no indication on the form that anything was closed or not available.

I have not received any communication at all.

Thanks to all the kind folk who replied. The idea of getting access to it was to be able to trawl through it. I have nothing but names to go by, not even exact ages and just hoped to spot something. Familiar or suggestive.
I need to re-think b4 continuing.
