Elizabeth Brighton Shipdham, 1773? Looking for a Brith/Baptism
« on: Wednesday 11 November 20 22:37 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone,

I am having trouble finding a birth/baptism for an Elizabeth Brighton 1773? - 1846?

She married a John Ainger in 1802, Shipdham, Norfolk. It lists John of being of Carbrooke and Elizabeth of this parish. Lists her as a single woman. In the presence of Robert Wicks & Elizabeth Johnson. Maybe a third witness: Hod Mondham?

https://search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GBPRS%2FNORFOLK%2FPD_337-10%2F00895&parentid=GBPRS%2FNORFOLK%2FMAR%2F000939251%2F2

They had three children together, all in Carbrooke

Francis Ainger - 1811
Mary Ainger - 1813
Harriet Ainger - 1818

I have both Elizabeth & John on the 1841 census living with Francis. It lists her birth as 1774, Norfolk.

John died in 1844 and Elizabeth I believe died in 1846. Both in Carbrooke.

John was also listed as 1774 in 1841 census. I found his baptism in 1775 in Carbrooke to a Thomas Ainger & Mary Francis.

Thanks for reading.

Don't appear to be any Brighton baptisms or burials in Shipdham at all.

Have found the baptism of an Elizabeth Brighton b.29/11/1776, bp.18/3/1778 Downham Market, dau. of John and Jane (together with a sister Martha b.1/1/1775).

Wonder if this could be her.

Thought I'd update this for anyone in the future who finds themselves looking down the same trail.

I had missed of some of their kids because of how they were translated. It makes sense since is bridges the gap between when they got married in 1802 and Francis 1811. So now it's:

Robert - 1803
William - 1804
Mary - 1810
Francis - 1811
Mary - 1813
Harriet - 1815-1817
Harriet - 1818

And I'm not too convinced that Downham Market Elizabeth Brighton is right. I'm still looking around on that front.
