Its not working properly at the moment
But there is an alternative when you are in shared matches on dna at least
There is a little green speach bubble on top right corner of their profile when you are compaing teir match
Ive been using that method this evening

Thanks Brigidmac.... I’m not a DNA match with this person... or he’s not taken tge test yet so I’m not able to contact him that way...
I’m going to contact Ancestry to find out what’s happening and when it’s going to be up and running again.

Will do... I’ve not heard back from Ancestry... I just kept trying and it suddenly worked...whether the message gets to the right place is another mystery of the internet!

Messages get marked as read and
I wonder why recipient doesn't bother to reply
But now I'm wondering if those messages have always been read or just ticked automatically after a certain delay.

Can anyone expand on this for using Ancestry Library Edition, which is available to me at home via my local library card. I can't see how to contact other Ancestry users at all.

I thinkif you're not a paid member you can't send messages but you can reply if someone messages you
Maybe some non repliers don't know that .

Isn't the library access linked to their membership so as an individual you can't message
