Edward Harley - Baptised 1735
« on: Saturday 14 November 20 15:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have found within the collection, England, 'Staffordshire, Church Records, 1538-1944', on Familyhistory a baptism for Edward Harley 8/2/1735, Fathers name Harley, (very helpful!!), at St Augustine, Rugeley.

I don't see this collection on FindMyPast or Anc, or, if it is, it does not come up with a hit for Edward Harley. Has anyone got a CD or paper copies of the St Augustines parish records. If so could they possible have a shufty to see if  there is any more information held for the baptism?

NB Later baptisms from St Augustines do appear with more information on Anc

Many thanks.

Eric

Image is available on FindMyPast - no further information - Edward Harley baptised 8 February 1735 - St Augustine, Rugeley.  Parents do not appear to have been named at this church at this time.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

BumbleB beat me to it --- but this was my message;

There are the images on Find My Past of the register of baptisms from this location - but simply give the name of the child baptised and the date! No parents shown for any of them at that time.

I suggest you look for other baptisms in adjacent years or thereabouts just to see if parents are named - and if there is a likely father. Take into account the names Edward gave to his own children - he may have named his eldest son after his father.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Making an assumption:

John Harley - baptised 23 April 1733 - no parents

Richard Harley - baptised 10 July 1737 - son of Edward and Jane
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

George Harley - 5 August 1739 - son of Edward and Jane

Thomas Harley - 19 July 1741 - son of Edward and Jane
