Looking for possible relations?
« on: Tuesday 17 November 20 14:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I've recently enquired regarding the location of my Grandmother and Grandfather's ashes.  We found them in a garden of remembrance at our local Crematorium.
Along with their ashes we have found out that two other people with the same family surname are scattered in the same area.  It's such an unusual surname that its possible that they could be related in some way but cannot find any information regarding them except for wills and death records.  I wonder if anyone could possibly help with any further information regarding them please?
Albert Woldemar (Voldemar) Toop born 07/10/1905 died April 1971
Salme Rosalie Toop born 27/07/1898 possibly Reigate? died 27/10/1979
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Andrea

The article is continued on another page, it mentions Captain Albert Toop's wife, Salme who was "a qualified barrister who had become a leader of the Estonian community in Cardiff".  The article reports the accidental sinking of the Ship "Anna Toop" which Albert had a half share in and named after his mother. There is a photo of Albert with his wife.

Further down the column is the same notice for Salme Rosalie Toop, the address for both is 11 Dyr-y-Sarn Road, Rumney (digitised text was a bit garbled  ;D)

FindMyPast have merchant seaman records for Albert Toop.
Born 07.10.1905 in Kuresaar, Estonia.
Probably Kuressaare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuressaare

One record notes his Certificate of Naturalisation dated 02.10.1950 and has a photo identity card.

ADDED: Just realised, birth place Kuressaare was on the immigration record GG found in reply #3)

Were your grandparent s Toop or Voldamar s ?
Are you hoping to go back a generation to find how they are related ?

Were any of them on 1911 census ?
