Thomas Wellsbury baptism 03/04/1814- St Benedict, Wombourne
« on: Wednesday 18 November 20 16:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone help with getting a copy of the actual image of this record please?  I have had access to the transcript in the past but it only records Thomas's mother; Elzbeth and no record of a father. I'm curious to see of any other info is visable.

Thank you with crossed fingers.

Would suggest he was illegitimate but as you say the actual image would be helpful.

Hope someone is able to view it for you.

Hello. I'd assumed that he was illegitimate to be fair as his mother is given as Elizabeth Wellsbury but then the father is blank - on Familysearch anyway. The occupation I new info though. I believe she was born in Kinlet and then married a few years after Thomas was born. Just trying to find some evidence to back up what I think.

Thank you.

Marriages;
St Benedict, Wombourne
Thomas WELSBURY/Sarah CAPEWELL 08 Jan 1816, witnesses Edward Meredith/Eleanor Welsbury
Eleanor WELSBURY/Edward MEREDITH 20 Jul 1822, witnesses above married couple I presume
William WELSBURY/Sarah PAGE 01 May 1823
(FreeREG)

I did see a Tree that has Elizabeth marrying Joseph MEREDITH and he is born c 1789 Kington, Herefordshire.
(F/S does have a Marriage 1817 Shropshire)

I'm a bit confused as in 1851 Josephs wife Elizabeth is born c 1793 Brilley, Herefordshire?

Although I do agree that Elizabeth was likely Bapt 1792 Kinlet to JOHN/SARAH as siblings above seem to have been in Wombourne c 1814 onwards where they married and Elizabeth Bapt Thomas in 1814.
(I looked at the Bapts on FreeREG to John/Sarah)

Also there are overlapping Bapt Wombourne, Staffs and Kington, Herefordshire, Parents Joseph/Elizabeth 1817 onwards.

1841 Census
Swindon, Staffs
Joseph Meridith 45 Labourer
Elizabeth Meridith 45
Elizabeth Meridith 10
John Meridith   8
Anna Meridith   5 (bapt as Hannah 1835)
All born in County

1851 Census
Wombourne, Staffs
Joseph Meredith   55  Widr Lab
Eliza Meredith   20
Hannah Meredith 15
William Jones   27 Lodger
All born Wombourne*

So 2 Joseph/Elizabeths around

The Joseph born Herfordshire who was a Farm Bailiff appears to have married Elizabeth HARRIS
4 July 1816 Kington, Herefordshire.

Just posting as it appears to me that some Trees have info mixed up.
