Turkington--Belfast
« on: Wednesday 18 November 20 17:03 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone able to help me find any information on the parents of Margaret Turkington, circa 1862-1921, from Belfast, died in Philadelphia PA (USA)? I can not find the name of her spouse or parents.  Her son's name was William Harvey Sayers.  Thank you!

Hi,

Is it possible they were from some other part of Ireland but may have lived in Belfast briefly before emigrating?

This may or may not be the right couple.  James Turkington married Mary Ann Harvey in Omagh in 1848:

And they had a daughter called Margaret born 2nd Apr 1859, baptised 5th May 1859 at Sixmilecross (acc. To Rootsireland).

Do you when Margaret emigrated, and did she marry in Ireland or America?

More checking needed, but this suggests William's father was a John Sayers and that Margaret was born in County Tyrone and her parents were as suggested by Gilby above (apparently as confirmed by her death certificate):

Marriage licence for John and Margaret  in Philadelphia in 1887, indexed by Ancestry and FindMyPast as (and indeed original reads as):

John Sayers
Maggie Turkyton
1887

Marriage then took place on 24th March.
