John William Walter Smith Fairlie

In the electoral rolls, I have found John William Walter Smith Fairlie living with Dorothy Winifred Fairlie at 1105 Whitehorse Road Victoria.
Family history shows John went to Australia but his wife was called Grace.

I am wondering what the relationship is. John dies in 1956 age 75 and Dorothy dies in 2003.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you, that answers my question on another thread, Dorothy must have been much younger than John, she didn't die until 2003.
