George Holden - army records

Hi

I'm a member of quite a few sites but can't seem to find the army records of my great uncle George Holden.  I've found a medal card and one site mentioning he was a prisoner of war but not the 'normal' service records you often find.   In case its me being rubbish at searching or they are somewhere else then maybe someone can do a little better than me.

I know his army number was 11263, born c.1889, he was at some point a Corporal and was in the 12th King Royal Rifles at some point.

Any help or guidance appreciated.

Are you aware that between 60%and 70% of WW1 records were destroyed in WW2? Your great uncle’s records may be among those lost.

Oh I wasn't, I've always had a good success rate, sounds like I've just been lucky then.

One item, Findmypast have an entry in a General  Hospital Discharge book that on the
29th Dec. 1916 he was discharged to duty after being hospitalised with Influenza.

You have probably seen that he was captured on the 22nd March 1918 and that he was wounded.

Yes found that influenza entry and the POW report, though just went back to be sure what I had and found a 2nd POW document.

I wonder if by any chance he continued serving after 1920, if so his records will still be with the MOD.
It is just a wild thought.

I'm not sure if you have found the International Red Cross' WW1 prisoner of war website yet, but this looks to be your George Holden if he was taken prisoner of war on 22 March 1918 while serving with the 12th King's Royal Rifles.
