www.irishgenealogy.ie Civil Records just enter surname Shier Reg District Rathkeale & there are several records. www.nationalarchives.ie Censuses 1901/1911 several entries for Shier same site Griffiths Valuation & Tithe Applotment records

There is a Charles Shier on find my past born 1826 joined the royal scots Ist Foot attestion date 29.5.1847 age 21 Service No. 2279
