I find Pamela Jane's death on Scotland's People, and it says Castle Douglas, and mother's surname Jones. Also says certificate not available. Does that only mean not available online. I would like to know her parentage. An obituary would be helpful for the family tree. Pamela Jane was first married to Alan Brown in 1955 , then Miles Powell Hinchliffe in 1961, although I wonder if they might have been separated as Miles died in England in 2014 but she died in Scotland in 2015. What took her there?

Certs for that period have to be purchased - they are not available online

If her marriages were in Scotland you may be better buying one of those certs - she gave the info re her parents - not somebody else as on a death cert

Her birth is on freebmd - Pamela J Marsden March qtr 1934 Barton on Irwell - mmn Jones

Why not just buy a copy of her birth cert?

Freebmd also has a 1928 marriage in Barton between James B Marsden & Mary L Jones

Thank you very much Carole W. this is very good information. The marriages were in Salford, Lancashire England. I think you have found her parents names.

The 1955 marriage was a civil ceremony - Barton on Irwell
The 1961 marriage was also a civil ceremony but in Blackpool

Thanks again, CaroleW. I did order Alan's grandmother's marriage record a few weeks ago - Annie Brown to George Marsden in 1917. Supposed to be mailed Dec 18 but will probably take a couple weeks after that to reach me. I always forget to look at BMD as I am not used to using it.

I'm puzzled though - Alan Brown's grandparents -  Annie Brown & George Marsden marriage 1917?

Presuming Alan was born in a similar timescale to Pamela 1930-1934 - it would not be possible for him to have grandparents who only married in 1917

Yep, Alan Brown was born 1929 and his parents were George Harry Brown and Eliza Burgess. George's parents were George Harry Brown, Sr. and Annie Johnston, both born 1870. Annie later remarried to George Marsden in 1917, if I am correct, and I am pretty sure I am. Awaiting George and Annie's marriage record for 1917.
My brickwall is Annie's grandparents born in Ireland. Grandfather was Joseph but don't know grandmother's name. Joseph had son Andrew born in Co. Armagh who had Annie June 17, 1870 in Coagh, Urbal, Co. Tyrone.

The 1920 marriage cert does show George Harry Brown's father as George Harry Brown - deceased

George H jnr was 25 and marriage was 22.5.20 @ Christ Church Salford.  Eliza was 21 - father Thomas Burgess - deceased

Had to laugh at Eliza's occupation - hooker

Witnesses were Thomas & Florence Marsden

Cannot see a marriage between a George H Brown & Annie Johnston unless it was in Ireland.
George H senior died 1899 aged 29

No birth for Annie Brown or George Harry Brown with that mmn but son Joseph b 1898 has mmn Johnson
