During this strange year I've been keeping busy going through old family photo albums and scanning and saving each individual photo and there really isn't any need to remove each photo to scan it. Why not scan a complete album page and then use software (eg, IrfanView) to crop each photo from the page as a separate entity? For example, scan the first page and save it somewhere with a name such as page1.jpg. Crop the first photo on that page and save it with a name such as photo1.jpg. Then reload page1.jpg and crop out photo2.jpg and so on until the whole page has been done. Then repeat the process with page 2 of the album and so on until all pages have been scanned and all photos individually saved. It's time consuming but the end result is very satisfying!

Hi Latchfordian,
Thankyou for another great idea, Irfanview looks good, like you say, plenty of time to start a project, I think I might enjoy doing it for this album for the rest of the family.
Love Rootschatters, you can always rely on useful, good advice.
Many thanks

Hi Cathy
You can download software that will allow you to scan album pages and crop images etc. If you have a Mac, the sniptag programme is excellent. I use scanspeeder and have found it really good. Cost is quite good. I don't have the website details but if you google there are a number of programmes you can download. Some allow a trial so it is worth looking at.

Hi Cathy

Here is the website for the software I use. You can download and get about 10 free scans.
