Mrs A. D. Druce
« on: Saturday 19 December 20 21:53 GMT (UK) »
My relation Alfred Foot was a chauffeur who worked for Mrs A. D. Druce and family from 1900.Alfred lived at Claydon Mews in London. I assume the the Druce family were well off but I have been unable to trace them. I am not sure if A. D. is her initials or that of her husband's. There was a famous Druce furniture store and it might be that the Druce family were connected to that family? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Mark

Found your relation - its Clabon Mews, which is close to Cadogan Square. In 1901 and 1911 there's a Kate Druce b c1839 living in the square, widow of Alexander D Druce, solicitor

You can find them quite easily on all the census using the details of his wife that Mabel provided.

I can"t get back in but just wanted to say thank you for all your help. It seemed Kate moved following her husband's death in 1897. I believe she had a number of servants apart from Alfred the chauffeur who lived near by. Could someone kindly advise me how many? A very different world!
