William DAWSON and Anne BERNEY
« on: Sunday 20 December 20 01:20 GMT (UK) »
Another of the Berney sisters.

Anne BERNEY married William DAWSON mid to late 1830s possibly Suncroft. She died 1872 Oldtown, Kildare and he died 1876 in the same place.

Known children all born Oldtown I believe.
William 1840-? not sure of date. Married and had three children Patrick, Michael and ?? (See image)
Michael 1842-1915
Laurence 1846-1916
Kate 1848-1934 married John McMAHON 1885
Anne Jane 1852-?
Thomas 1857-1938

Have found Michael through to Thomas all living together in Oldtowndonore in 1901. Can't see them in 1911.

Can anyone find William anywhere, name of his wife.

Thanks
Ian C

Could the name be 'Nattie' short for Natalie, Nathalie, Annette, Annetta?

There seems to be a written mark under Choiseul....are you able to show what this is please? Also the apx date the snippet was written.

The scan was sent to me about fifteen years ago, but as to when it was written I have no idea. About that time I think.

The line under Choiseul points to two children of that person Charlie and Willie.

Am guessing the Choiseul is where they lived as under the name of Mrs Dawson at the top it has (Old Town).

Curiouser and curiouser.  There are places by the name of Choiseul in the Solomons (Sth Pacific) and on St Lucia in the Caribbean.  Would it be likely that either of these would be a location for these children?

On 1911 Irish census there is a Margaret Choiseul (49) in a religious order (Sisters of Mercy)in Tullamore.   But if there were children I guess this rules that out? So you don't know her (Nattie's) married name but know that her children were named Charles and William.

Yes, very sad indeed.

He was farming in the townland of Rathfeston, Geashill.
