For information.

Children of DANIEL CAMERON/MARGARET MCISAAC

Alexander 1804, James 1812, John 1815,
William 1819, Peter 1821, Hugh 1824, Jean 1826, David 1829.

I note a gap in birth records 1804 – 1812, I guess they may have lost at least one child?

No death records at Dunblane before 1828 and none for this family 1829 – 1855 on church records.

I guess this might be Maragaret?

MCISAAC   MARGARET   GEORGE MCISAAC/MARGARET BAIN   F   14/09/1783   Kilmadock

They married 18/01/1783 Kilmadock.

No death for Daniel or Margaret on Statutory Records after 1855 and no suitable census records.

It is possible that they died prior to 1855 in a place where the records are not available. I could only identify 3 of the children still in Dunblane after a quick scan through the 1841/1851 census on freereg.

Colin

Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

To ColC -

Margaret Cameron  was born in 1811 and married James Gentles.

Yes, Daniel's wife was Margaret McIsaac and her parents George and Margaret Bain McIsaac.

Thank you,

You've been busy.  Didn't know about her immigration to US.  Shall check Ancestry.

Thank you and Merry Christmas, as we Yanks say...

Thanks for your post. You may be aware of the following but just in case.

Do not be concerned about Margaret's fathers name.

Daniel & Donald are sometimes, but not always, interchangeable in Scotland, because Domhnall, the Gaelic version of Donald, may be Anglicised as Daniel.

It looks like James Cameron(1812–1869) also went to the USA
Death 17 April 1869 • Humboldt, Richardson County, Nebraska, United States of America

Some of the trees on Ancestry do not all have the correct information.

Alexander married and was in Dunblane 1851
John married and lived in Falkirk, Stirlingshire 1851
Hugh remained single and lived in Perthshire.
David was a mason in Dunblane 1851 but not clear afterwards.
No clear trace of the others.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Colin

Yes, I have found errors on several family trees, both  Ancestry and FamilySearch.  Discouraging.  Did not know the interchangeability of Donald/Daniel.  Speaking of which, is Colin interchangeable with John and Callender with Alexander?

Colin and EV,
Daniel and Mary Reoch/Reach are not mine.

New subject - Scottish Christmas Traditions - My Scottish greats and grand, who immigrated to Pennsylvania, died before I was born and those celebrations are unknown to me.  Anything you can pass on to me regarding these traditions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
SRT

I wouldn't have thought so, but could these be mistranscriptions? Have you seen the originals?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
