Anne Barnet, (b. 1760) married John Roberts, (b. 1760)
« on: Friday 25 December 20 12:01 GMT (UK) »
Curious concerning an ancestor and how I can find out about her birth whereabouts;
Anne Barnet, (b. 1760) married John Roberts, also born in 1760 in 1778 in Cwm, Flintshire/Denbighshire. They gave birth to a son, my 5x great grandfather, William Roberts in 1785 in Cwm.

There are some Barnet (vars) having children around that time in Cwm and in Holywell but no
Ann(e)s.

Names - Edward and Jane and William and Elizabeth.

What were the names of all Ann  and John's children?  Also, what were John's parents' names?

I believe that William was their only son. I happen to also be very unsure and have no records on John's parents, but on the marriage certificate it said he was 'of Cwm'. Barnet would definitely imply some English ancestry, right? Or not, unless a lot of Welsh people would anglicise their surnames?

John Roberts is not easy. I've been trying to find a John Roberts, my 3xgg, for 30 years somewhere in Merionethshire. I've checked the patronymics.  I have a short list.

The witnesses at their marriage might well be church wardens as I see they signed other marriages.

I did a quick check on the non-conformist list but couldn't find anything.

Do you have the deaths/burials of John and Anne?

The marriage at Cwm was in 1777, rather than 1778.
It says that John Roberts was of the parish of Dymeochion.
Which may be Tremeirchion? :-\
Anne was of the parish (Cwm)

Both marked.
Marriage was by licence. Nothing so far to suggest that the bond/allegation are still around.

Baptisms at Cwm to John and Anne Roberts
John, 22 March 1778
Anne, 21 Aug 1779
Thomas, 12 Aug 1781
Peter, 3 Aug 1783
William, 2 Oct 1785

All bar Peter say that John was of (living at) Uwchglan
Did Anne junior die in 1781?

Speaking of Tremeirchion, there are a couple of John/Anne Roberts baptisms there later
Edward, 8 March 1791
Robert, 1 Sep 1793

No idea if they are connected, with Roberts being such a common name :)
John was a Labourer
Wife Anne was formerly Anne Bernard
Not a million miles away from Barnet perhaps (a musing, I'm being rather optimistic there!)

An Anne Bernard was bap 25 July 1756, at Caerwys, not far away (parents Thomas and Elizabeth)

EDIT Two more baptisms at Tremeirchion
Mary, 17 Jan 1796
Hugh, 5 May 1799

The big mystery is..
Why do ancestry, findmypast and familysearch index that Roberts-Barnet marriage at Cwm in 1778 rather than 1777?

There is only one marriage there in 1778, number 96 in the register.

I would search the burials at Tremeirchion, as well as at Cwm.
