the person is
James Smith Durward, Death 17th Oct 1974
  Died at North Saanich , British Columbia.
 he was born in Scotland but lived Canada,

The obit for Gladys (Durward) Illingworth is on your USA thread (including her parents William and Mary,brother Kenneth William Durward, grandfather Hugh Durward)

yes ! sad about Hugh....i wonder if they ever did find his body ?...
so it looks like James & Charlotte didn't have kids...oh well ! at least i now know what happened to him & Charlotte ,

James and Charlotte Frances only ever appeared on Canada Voters Lists as a couple, never showed with any other Durward members.  So think it is safe to say they had no children.
