Finding a connection

Happy new year everyone,  please could you help me with a ancestor of mine, My great gran was Mary Gavin who I found in both 1901/1911 Ballygrany, Galway, census to be living with a Mary Barrett (100% sure )and is down as single, recently I have come across a 1912 court order which I am almost certain must be her but on it is a John Crehan who has put Mary Gavin as his mother. I have searched all the records available to me but can not find a birth for John Crehan with mother as Mary Gavin or visa versa.
