Ingram's of Warwickshire
« on: Saturday 02 January 21 01:29 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information about the ancestors of the following family.
Anne Ingram 1826-1916 m. Elijah Porter

Her parents: Benjamin Ingram 1802 - Alecster 1879
Children: Anne, Benjamin, Ellen, Reuben, Jacob, Joseph
Wife Hannah Print Foster abt. 1799 - aft. 1871, dau. of Proctor Print and Alice Hitchman
First husband Richard Foster; Children Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth
In Census records of 1841, 1851, and 1871
His parents may be William Ingram abt. 1782 Salford Priors -
wife may be Jane

Descendants:
Anne Ingram Porter
dau. Anne Porter m. Edward Hopkins
dau. Lucy Allice Hopkins m. George Wilkinson
dau. Stella Ada Wilkinson m. Gilbert John Hunt
son Chris Hunt
with whom I and an Ancestry DNA match. Daughter/Ancestry member 'kerryhunt1'.

This DNA connection ties Robert Ingram 1625 St. Ives, Huntingdonshire - 1666 Somerset, Maryland, British America to his English cousins.
I (and my family's Y-DNA) also match a descendant of John Ingram of Chester County, PA.  Ancestors are Arthur Ingram, 3rd Viscount Irwin; Lord Henry Ingram, First Viscount Irwin; Sir Arthur Ingram, junior; Sir Arthur Ingram, elder; Hugh Ingram, junior (wife Goldthorpe); Hugh Ingram, elder (wife Barrowby).  Areas include Yorkshire, Temple Newsam, Rothwell, Penkridge, Huntingdonshire, and London.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi, and a warm welcome to Rootschat!

One step at a time is the way to go with Family History research, verifying each step from as many different angles as you can as you go.

So - is this Benjamin and Hannah?

1861
Sambourn , Warwickshire
Benjamin Ingram 59 needlemaker bn Sambourn
Hannah 62 wife bn Bearly

I see on other censuses he consistantly gives Sambourn as pob.

So first move would be to look for a christening in Sambourn for him.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

FamilySearch has the baptism of a Benjamin Ingram on 7th August 1803, parents William and Jane, in Coughton.  This is a mile or so from Sambourne.
