James Norton | Born 24th October 1904

Hi,

I'm trying to find trace of my great grandad James Norton and have come a bit unstuck.

I know he was born on 24th October 1904, as it states this on the 1939 register living in Wolverhampton.   However, when I try to search for the same details on Ancestry the closest I can find is a James Norton born on 26th October 1904 in West Bromwich.  Obviously West Brom is down the road from Wolverhampton, and the 26th is only 2 days off the 24th so this could be the same person however a few trees have different information such as his wife which is 100% incorrect, I know my Great Gran's name as i met her a few times as a child.

I'd really appreciate any help with this at all.

Did he marry Alice E Walker in 1936?

My Great Gran was Alice Walker.

I haven't checked the census yet no because i was trying to make sure i had the right birth date, it's down as the 24th on the 1939 register, but the one born in west brom, there is a record of his father joining the army where James date is listed as 26/10 not 24/10 - so that has put me out a bit.

Would i be fairly certain to assume that this is the same James and it's likely the date on the 1939 register is wrong, perhaps a 6 has been read as 4 on something somewhere and misreperesented on the 1939 register?

Don’t know what’s happening on Family Search.  I have found the 1911 entry on Ancestry but when looking on FS it’s only displaying the entry for the person I use for searching - not the whole family

His mothers maiden name was Cope

I have also just bottomed out the other wife on some people's tree's.  He was married before he married my great gran, this knocked me off the track as i didn't know about this.
