Ancestry 'Worldwide Membership' - Australian Discount Pricing?
« on: Tuesday 05 January 21 03:23 GMT (UK) »
Hello RootsChat Members:

Wondering if anyone has got any suggestions?

Regarding: Ancestry – 'Everything On Ancestry – Worldwide Membership' (3rd Option).

Has anyone in Australia come across a further Discount for this 3rd Option?

The usual Price is - $169.99 for 6-mths. (apparently always Marked Down from $249.99).

UK and USA, always appear to have various Discounts, but for some reason very few for Australia.

I am aware that they are currently offering (50% off)  'UK Heritage Plus Annual Membership' (for $124.99, ending today 6th Jan. 2021).  This is the (2nd Option), and not the one I prefer.

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

What happens if you pay at ancestry.com and get world wide? Do you get different Australian info than you do if you sign on from ancestry.au?

Hello Mckha489,

I am unsure how this would work.
I would also have to take the Currency Conversion into consideration.

I do not believe it would create any problems with the DNA (AU), and I believe that all DNA Communications are held in USA (at .com).

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.

I am in NZ and my world wide sub is through ancestry.co.uk.  I don’t seem to be missing any NZ options, but am not sure about Australian. Every so often I get a message saying I should be with .Au, but I always dismiss the message.

I'd be interested to know how you did that, Mckha489. I have tried in the past to sign up in the UK and have been automatically redirected to the Australian one.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

I have been a long time subscriber to Ancestry.com.au  Recently I was unable to access my DNA results, trees messages etc. Also it used to default to Ancestry.com ( which I didn't want)
I spoke to them and they suggested I log in with a different server ( so instead of Google I used
Firefox) and bingo! it worked. Please don't ask me why! And we never seem to get decent discounts here even for loyal longtime subscribers.

I am sorry, I have no idea!  I have been a member since 2008 and just do not remember.

Hi, I took out a World Wide subscription yesterday on Ancestry.se with the 40% discount. I logged into Ancestry.co.uk and Ancestry.com.au today and all the tips and everything worked just fine there so I assume that it doesn't make any difference where you take out the subscription. When I go to the UK or Australian Ancestry sites the first thing that happens before I login is that a big pop up window appears asking me if I would prefer to redirect to the Swedish site. I just click on proceed with Ancestry.co.uk and it lets me sign in there.

Hope this helps someone
Glyn

Hello RootsChat Members,

Thank you to all for your comments so far.

I have just checked the Canadian Ancestry site, offering (50% off)  Memberships,
'Everything on Ancestry – World Deluxe' ($64.99 – Canada, for 6-months).

Currency Conversion: Canadian $s - to - Australian $s = $66.1660

Can anyone please tell me, if I was to purchase from the Canadian Site, would I still be able to  access all Australian and UK records.

Thanking you,
Jeanette H.
