Hi,
NSW bdm online index is readily available and free to search. There is a death registration indexed there, registered in 1951 in the Mayfield district for a chap with same name and his parents given names match.
NSW death registrations include the opportunity to record a great depth of detail including information about when, where, to whom, for any marriage, children of the marriage .. name and age, causes of death, cemetery and funeral director info too.
I anticipate other RChatters will be along shortly to posts further details, including live links to help advance your quest.
Trove is an excellent online resource, again readily and freely available including access to digitised newspapers.
NSW state archives would have deceased estate and/Or Probate files for that era. Again, online indexes readily and freely available.
And theres RChats NSW resources board, it has live links covering all the many aspects of researching family history in NSW.
JM I have edited to sort grammar, spelling and sentence structure. 5.57 a.m. I.e. within ten minutes of initial post.
