Lumley of Ryton and Ovingham
« on: Saturday 09 January 21 11:42 GMT (UK) »
Keen to hear from anyone who is researching Lumley in Ryton (1600s) and Ovingham (late 1600s and early 1700s) with specific reference to links with the Lumleys of nearby Lumley Castle.

Have you looked in the Surname Interests under Your Tools, below, to see if anyone on here is researching those families.  I think you need to be pro-active, unless you just want to post here for people to find you in the future.

Do you belong to F M P or Ancestry to see if anyone has the family on there?

Yes I have thank you and I am very proactive! I belong to a large number of sites and have carried out extensive research on a wide range of historical documents. But when you get back to the 1500s it does get a bit tricky, hence the specific post with the surname and two locations.

Hello AnnetteMW. I have marriage indexes for both Ryton and Whickham and can find NO Lumleys marrying in either of those parishes during the time frame you seek.  True, there are Lumleys, but in later years. Sorry I could not be of more help. Sincerely, patrexjax

Thanks for looking! I haver found the Ryton marriages under Lumlaye. I think the clerk may have had a fanciful turn when he was writing them up!!!
