John Henry Elliott

Could I ask someone to help me with which public house John Henry Elliott was publican of please? John was born 1n 1869 at Stoke Dameral port, Devonshire and was married to Amelia with a son William John. The pub was at Southampton Western (details, familysearch)
Now the year is 1911 and I know we're not allowed to quote look-ups, so I'm being cheeky, but if it might it be one of these 5?

In 1901 at the address was a pub called Evening Star, if that helps.

No pub name mentioned on 1911.

Have you considered a newspaper search for pubs using his name, as publicans are often mentioned for a variety of reasons?

Have you also looked at sites such as

as various towns have people researching all the local pubs, with old and new names etc.

There is a Southampton lost Pub site -- but I cannot see this particular pub. Maybe it changed it's name before it became 'lost'!!

If you check the 1901 census, living at that address is;

Alice M Hickman b abt 1872, Southampton. RG13/1060/43/19.

Pennines, I've found that Alice's father, Charles was a publican, at Carlton Place in All Saints parish. I think Alice took over the tenancy; she married in 1905.
As you say this was the same address of John Henry Elliott, I assume it is The Evening Star. It just might be 'Smugglers now, that's on Carlton Place but conjecture only.

This isn't my family, I'm writing their story for my neighbour and she would have loved a picture of the pub as John Henry had been a Royal Navy man before he retired.
