WAAF service records
« on: Saturday 16 January 21 14:19 GMT (UK) »
I not sure this is the correct place to post, I been searching for my father's service number for some time now. He went to war in 1939 for the RAF, he was graded as fitter, mechanic, and airframes. then was a leading aircraftsman and then became an instructor Posted to 190/620 Squadron in Great Dunmore in Essex Left in 1944. Trying to get hold of some records GOV.COM cant help until I get the Service number.

Check the forms again, you don't need his number.  The RAF form says you must have his date of birth if you don't have his number. - from the form - Service Number and/or date of birth must be included *

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

You don't need his service number but you will need his date of birth, If you look at the form it is either/or.

"Service Number and/or date of birth must be included"

I'm not sure there were many men in the WAAF, if any. Do you mean RAF?
