Hi all,
Thank you all for your time and effort. I have independent sources that confirm James Robinson married Jane Duckworth, so the record that came up in 1854 must be correct. I believe he died around 1902 and had 2 children, Richard and Mary. He was a dyer. That's all the information about him that I know.

Thank you.
Well you have all the information I have found.
If he was the man who married Jane, as you say, you know now that he was a widower so you would be looking for an earlier marriage and death of wife.
We found a possible marriage to Nancy Crossley and then there is the other stuff from that.

Thanks
That connection with the Lords seems promising, as well as James' mother possibly bearing the surname 'Fleetwood'

I believe he died around 1902.

That's all the information about him that I know.

Just adding the possible death entries for James Robinson & his wife Jane, to confirm you would need to obtain the death record

Robinson   James   Age 71   Sep 1902 Rochdale   8e   31

Robinson  Jane         Age 47   Dec 1878 Rochdale   8e   59

You probably have these details - James was widowed in 1881 living with his 2 children 1 Cottages Yard Lomax St., and he appears to be noted as blind on 1891 & 1901 census.

and just in case you don't have his daughter Mary Jane's marriage

23 Oct 1890 St Clement Spotland
Mary Jane Robinson age 23 Lomax Street father James Robinson, Dyer
Robert Phythian 24 tinplate worker father Richard, Carter
John Eastwood & Sarah Ann Stott witnesses, all signed their names
amended to add image of m/c
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9Q97-YSNY-LNW?i=227&cc=1788853

You can find Mary and her husband on 1891 census with their son named Richard age 2

The Fleetwood connection is a different James and I would think not connected to this search. That family are not in Rochdale or that area.

FrancisGRN - info. for you to look at

FreeBMD has these birth entries

Robinson   William      Rochdale   8e   64   This entry is viewable and reads William

Cannot find on GRO indexes under name of William ref 8e 64 - was he registered with the christian name Richard his birth entry has the same reference number as the birth entry from FreeBMD above.

Heywood found a marriage for a James Robinson to a Crossley - possible child

Have you found by any chance Mary Jane Robinson's date of death. In terms of records, i'm seeing a few dates on ancestry around 1931-34, but a suspicious record of a Percy Phythian living with his mother, Mary J, though in Bristol, which is not where you'd expect.
Thanks
