Mahon family - Kilmore Cottage Farm, Artane
« on: Sunday 17 January 21 22:19 GMT (UK) »
[corrected some typos]

Hi,

I'm looking for any information regarding the descendants of Peter and Kathleen Mahon (nee Sheridan), who lived at Kilmore Cottage farm on the Kilmore Road in Artane.  Peter and Kathleen had a daughter, Eileen, and possibly a son called Patrick.  Eileen was born sometime after her parents married in 1931, and I think it may have been closers to 1935-37 but I'm not certain.  I haven't been able to track down birth, marriage or death certificates for Eileen, but she was present at both Peter and Kathleen's deaths in 1958 and 1962 (according to their death certs).

Kilmore Cottage land was acquired by Dublin City Council (through a Compulsory Purchase Order) immediately after Kathleen's death in 1962 and was used for housing development near Beaumont Hospital.  The official record apparently states that the land was purchased from Eileen Mahon.

I would really like to find out if Eileen is still alive today, or what might have become of her.  She is the last of that particular line of my family, as I don't believe she married or had children herself.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Do you have Peter and Kathleen’s burial records? Maybe if Eileen is deceased she is buried with her parents.
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for your reply!

Apologies - I was typing that from memory.  You're right, it was 1958 and I already had the death certificates for Peter and Kathleen Mahon.  They are unfortunately the only official records that I have that mention their daughter, Eileen Mahon.  She's the one I'm trying hard to track down.

I don't have their burial records, but that's a great suggestion.  Do you know where I'd be able to find a reliable online source for those?
