Certain provisions made in Fanny's will were copied in newspapers in many parts of the country!

For instance, Gloucestershire Echo, 2 April 1914

That is fantastic - thank you so much !  I do have membership at the moment of BNA and had looked, but only in London newspapers and so far, only for William Henry Salmon.

William Henry's death was announced in the South London press, in January 1892, but no mention was made of funeral arrangements.

Yes I found that.   They do sometimes  include in such notices where the burial / service is to be but unfortunately not for William Henry.

You are all so wonderful on this website - I have always said it, and will continue to in future I am sure  -  and especially jonw65 on this occasion !  thank you so much.  And Helen in Australia will doubly thank you.  i will not take the credit  for finding them - though it will look impressive as though I had !  I haven't looked at the link yet.   Seeing that in the newspaper article for Fanny Salmon she had left money to the Congregational church, Jamaica Street,  that indicated it would not be a C of E grave.  (that church was eventually a synagogue I found).

How did you know where to look  jonw65 ?  Was it that FH serendipity !

'Something Helen had sent to me :   grandmother was fortunately  left five houses in London by Fanny Salmon and a financial legacy all of which stood her in good stead as her husband Edwin became epileptic over the years and was hospitalised in 1918 and remained there until his death in 1931.    The  family story is that Fanny was called the Duchess of Bermondsey as she would never turn away anyone who came to her door  asking for money. Hi
It would be nice to be a genius, Jen ;D, but really it was just a good old google search.
"William Henry Salmon" + "1892", though I might have split the surname off from the first names.
It does occasionally find someone, if there are transcribed records online from a churchyard or cemetery that aren't on the genealogy sites.

So glad for you, Lily, and for Helen, that we have tracked them down!
John
