I would appreciate any help in tracing Arthur Roland Newman who was born in Lambeth on 25 June 1850 and became an apprentice waterman in Vauxhall in 1864.

Thanks Louisa Maud for your reply.  I am trying to find out what happened to him after 1864 as I have him in the 1851 census living with his parents John Edward & Sarah Newman and brother John in Vine Street, Lambeth.

Yes, that is them

His registration is shown as MMN Holly but John Edward Newman married Sarah Olley 1844 Stepney  but that won't help you find him after 1864

Believe that Arthur Roland and his sibling John E are Half brothers, with John having the mmn as Hyde

Many thanks for the replies.  GRO has John Edward Newman birth reg S 1848 Lambeth Vol 04 Pg 324 mmn Holley and John Edward Newman age 7 death reg D 1855 Lambeth Vol 01D Pg 182, so I am inclined to think John Edward and Arthur Roland were brothers.  GRO also has a sister Eliza Sophia Newman birth reg S 1852 Lambeth Vol 01D Pg 246 mmn Holly.  I think Eliza Newman married William Clements, 30 July 1871, St Mary Lambeth.

I have seen the details for John Edward Newman married Sarah Olley 1844 Stepney, which looks right.   The H was dropped East End style I think.
