Victor Watson
« on: Tuesday 19 January 21 22:26 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on my grandfather Victor Watson. I don’t know an awful lot about him, but I know he served in the army probably 40’s and 50’s I would like to know how to find out what regiment he served with and what his id tags would have looked like. He married Irene Fysh and lived in Holme Next Sea until his death

Looking at his marriage entry he was Victor W Watson - was he born 1925?

I will have to ask for my mum for his birth year, he died in June 2011. Do I need any kind of paperwork for accessing the mod archives?

I’ve clicked the link and it says I need his service number. Thank you for all of your help 😊 does December qtr include September because that was his birth month. They were married on 29th January. My nanny had a child Jennifer before they married and then they had Lesley, Sandra (my mum) and Kevin. I have very basic genealogy knowledge so appreciate all of your help

You don't need his service number but you will need his date of birth. If you look at the army form it's and/or.

" SERVICE NUMBER AND/OR DATE OF BIRTH MUST BE INCLUDED"

December qtr (Oct-Dec) shows when the birth was registered; you had 6 weeks to register a birth.
