Hi all,
I would like to request someone to look into my biggest brick wall- Eliza Ann Trinder (1830-1874). Born in Lambeth, she married John Thomas Trinder (1824-1884) and had eight children, the oldest, John Samuel being born in 1850, and one of which being my second great-grandmother, Eliza Jessie (1857-1918). The trouble is that I cannot seem to identify Eliza Ann's background or maiden name. There is a marriage certificate dating from 1853 describing a marriage between a 'John Trinder' and 'Eliza Priest', but this doesn't seem right, given that her oldest child was born three years earlier. Furthermore, John Thomas Trinder and Eliza are recorded in the 1851 census. John Thomas Trinder is also almost always recorded as John Thomas, not John. However, the supposed name of his father, Thomas, matches my records. There is also a marriage index on Ancestry which states that 'John Thomas Trinder' married in 1847, a perfect date and a perfect name, making it highly likely that this was him. However, being an index, it does not state the wife's name. I have seen the name 'Eliza Ann Young' in some trees on Ancestry, but the surname does not seem to be substantiated by anything concrete.
Thanks,
Francis
