Thomas Johns
« on: Sunday 24 January 21 21:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi I was hoping someone could help identify the parents of Thomas Johns, born around 1822, Walsall, Staffordshire.  Thomas married Dinah Woolley and was a jobbing Smith. I believe he died 1871.

There is a record for a Thomas Johns, Walsall 1823, parents Thomas Johns and mother Mary.  Thomas Johns senior is also listed as the father to Thomas junior on the marriage bans to Dinah Woolley, also a jobbing Smith.

However apart from this I can't find any info on Thomas Johns senior and Mary.  Any help with these two would be gratefully received including any further children they had.

Thanks

Do the marriage witnesses help at all - Ann Curtis - Charles Baker - were they relations or not known?

In 1841 there is a Johns trio in Birmingham

Thos Johns 40 - B smith?
Thos Johns 15
Elizth Johns 20

none born in County which would be correct if born Staffordshire

Actually this might be right because it looks to be the same street as Thomas listed on his marriage - Leek Street.

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

There doesnt seem any relation at present with the witnesses at all.  I hadnt spotted the address was the same as Thomas's marriage bans on the 1841 census, so well spotted, thanks :)

I did come across this census but was thrown by the 1826 potential birth year for Thomas Junior, as I believe him to be born 1822 potentially baptised 1823

His parents were william and Ann though havent been able to find much at all on Ann and very little on william.  Two potential dates for william is 1768 and 1760
