William Gibson family help please ?
« on: Wednesday 27 January 21 11:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi all
Im trying to find a William Gibson born 1852 in Hareby Lincolnshire, he married Elizabeth Roberts (Betsy) in 1873 in Wragby Lincolnshire, and Williams father is down as George Gibson on the marriage transcription, William and Betsy had 5 children William 1876, Rose 1877, Sarah 1879, George 1886 and John Henry in 1893. All i know about the family is that in 1895 Sarah Gibson, the daughter, at aged 16 murdered her little brother John Henry Gibson, then aged 2. Sarah was sent to Broadmore and the trail runs cold on her. What i am looking for is the death of William Gibson the father and also any sign of him before he married Betsy in 1873, so either the 1871 or 1861 census with his family.
Any help would be very much appreciated as i cant find anything. thankyou in advance.

Looks like Sarah may still be in Broadmoor in 1901 - there's an SG, single female, place of birth not known aged 21 listed on the census

There is only 1 George Gibson I can see in Hareby 1861 Census;
George Gibson   44
Harriet Gibson   43
George Gibson   14
Levi Gibson   9
Judith Gibson   9

Levi/Judith are twins births reg sept 1851 Spilsby mothers mn HOBBINS

Judith died 1865.

1871 Levi is not with his Parents.

I cant find Levi in any other Census after 1861 but there is a Death Reg 1906 reg Horncastle for a LEVI Gibson age 55.

Your William/Betsy are in Horncastle reg district 1901 Census.

Just posting as it is possible Levi was known as William?

Hi and thanks to you all for helping.
CarolelW - The last census i have William and Besty on is 1901 in Goulcby Horncastle, son George is with them aged 15.

Mabel Bagshawe - What site did you find the 1901 census for Broadmore and Sarah Gibson please.

Osprey - Yes the last census i have found them on is 1901, nothing after that.

Trish1120 - Have you come across people named Levi before but called William, its certainly something i hadn't thought of.

Right im off to have a look and check out all this info, thankyou again for helping.

trish1120, I think you might be onto something there. I'd had a look at Levi yesterday and he does seem to disappear between 1861 census & the death reg in 1906.

Burial in Asterby 6 Nov 1906 Levi Gibson 55 of Asterby
also buried in Asterby
10 April 1895 John Henry Gibson 2 years 2 months Asterby top
3 June 1901 William Gibson 24 Asterby
and 7 Nov 1929 Betsy Gibson 79

There's not many burials on the register - 3 in 1901, 1 in 1902, 4 in 1903.
