I am looking for the father of a Mary Jane JONES (wife of Daniel Rogers in a previous posting – under Denbighshire).  I have found Mary Jane, together with a sister Maria, in 1881, as servants in Chester Road, Gresford, Denbighshire at the home of Frances Juliana Parsons. This Mary Jane had Coed Talon as her birthplace which I found to be very close to Treuddyn.  Searching for a family with both a Maria and Mary Jane Jones born Coed Talon or Treuddyn gave me the 1871 census entry below. From that I knew her parents were Price (or Pryce) and Elizabeth.

However, some of the birth dates are not consistent e.g. Price Jones and Mary Jane. Therefore, are these all the same family? Can anyone please establish where Price Jones was born?

I cannot find a baptism for Price Jones or a marriage for him and Elizabeth. Maybe the records are missing or they are non-conformists?  Any information on Elizabeth too would be great.

Page number on entry for Elizabeth Harrison has been mistranscribed on FreeBmd, I've submitted a correction. North Wales Bmd site confirms it as a civil marriage so no parish entry to find.

I've noted a large number of children registered as "Jones" to mother mmn "Harrison" on GRO. There were 19 children, from 1839 up to 1870, some of which were the ones on the 1861/1871/1881census lists above for Price and Elizabeth.

Obviously some were too early to be their children but I'm guessing that some of these were their children which were born and died in between the census's. Checking these against the children in the 61, 71 and 81 census, gives the following as possible children for Price and Elizabeth:

Are these all their children?  Interestingly Harrison is the surname of the servant in 1861.

there's also a marriage 8 Aug 1854 parish church in Wrexham of Peter Jones & Ann Harrison and another same church 4 April 1853 of Evan Jones & Elizabeth Harrison (father Edward Harrison).

Haven't found him on the census as yet.

I suspect that the Elizabeth Harrison servant is a niece of Elizabeth. The child that you have as Peter in 1861 is female, name looks more like Ester on the census.

The marriage certificate which has just arrived shows that it was a Registry Office marriage in the District of Wrexham, in the counties of Flint, Denbigh and Chester on 14th January 1856.

Price Jones:            26 years, Batchelor, Horse keeper, Tryddyn, Father: Edward Jones, farmer.
Elizabeth Harrison:  22 years, Spinster,                       Tryddyn, Father: Miles Harrison, labourer.

The handwriting is particularly difficult to read but I think the main details are right.

This confirms Price Jones was born in 1830 and Elizabeth Harrison was born 1834.
