help please with dorothy atkinson born abt 1762, Kirkheaton

Please can anyone help?
I know that Dorothy Atkinson was born abt 1762, in Kirkheaton, but I cannot find a baptism for her, or for that matter, many records for the parish of Kirkheaton. I'd be so grateful for any advice/help.

There are some Kirkheaton parish registers on the Ancestry website (if you subscribe) - however I couldn't see your Dorothy Atkinson baptised there at or around 1762.

How do you know where and when she was born please? Are you going from a marriage or an age at death record maybe?

You don't reveal how you "know" she was born there without a baptism to confirm.

Northumberland and Durham FHS have a baptism for a Dorothy Atkinson 24 July 1763 in Gosforth. Father Ralph Atkinson.

Could this be your Dorothy?

Thanks very much for your replies. Peninnes, thanks also for your pm re another topic.

I know that Dorothy married Robert Forrest in 1787 in Jarrow and they had several children born in South Shields, and on the Baptismal records of some of these, it states that Dorothy was "a Native of Kirkheaton, Northumberland"
Then, she was buried in South Shields on 19/1/1837, aged 75.
So, I have assumed that she was born in Kirkheaton about 1762.
I have struggled to find church records for Kirkheaton, but I have also read that the registers are with Throckrington. But I still have failed to find a suitable baptism for her, so I was wondering if someone with local knowledge might be able to suggest something.

OK --- I have to confess that I hadn't noticed which 'Board' this query was on and had looked for Kirkheaton in Yorkshire. I had picked it up from the list of topics.

FreeREG has some Kirkheaton records but there seems to be a gap in Bapts between 1732/1851

Don't worry, it's an easy slip to make; I've done a lot worse in the past! At least you tried to help me.

I was just hoping that someone with local knowledge/data would be able to tell me if Dorothy (and her family) featured in these Kirkheaton registers, as I cannot find her.
