Richard Livingston & Jane McConnell
« on: Saturday 30 January 21 20:22 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I have a brick wall at my 3rd great parents Richard Livingstone & Jane McConnell. They were both born around 1809 & 1812 and I believe they were both born in Co. Down. They married in Donaghcloney Parish on 29th January 1835 and had 8 children all born in in Tullyish, Down, Ireland. Sarah born in 1835, Ellen 1841, my great great grandmother Rachel 1843-1915 who married William McCreanor, Richard 1845, Matthew 1846, Elizabeth 1850, Mary Ann & Thomas. I would like to find out any siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins that Richard Livingstone & Jane McConnell both had.

Here is the problem.  They are not listed in Donaghcloney COI records as marrying in 1835.  In Clare weaver Richard and Jane Livingston have  Wm bap 4-8-1827 Rebecca 1-8-1825, Sarah 2-28-1836,Richard 12-26-1841, Thomas 2-18-1844, William 6-7-1846,  Elizabeth 4-20-1847, John 2-21-1949, Mary Ann 9-27-1853.  At that point I stopped taking notes from a Mormon tape I rented.  The bapt should be in familysearch records.

A Richard dies in Clalre 2-10-1847 at 23 which is probably the one above a second Richard dies 2-19-1847no age or I missed it, Rebecca of Clare died 2-12-1847 at 20. There are so many Livingstons, that death records are not reasonable to search.

There was a Ballyhannon Richard and Jane having kids 1818and up  bapt at Seagoe, but I don't expect they are yours.  I'm just looking for a second church yours might have used.

I don't remember if these were actual or transcribed records of Tullylish COI.  Do you have Church of Ireland Livingstons?  Did they live in Clare, Co Down?  Are your dates baptism dates or are they from a later event like a census or death record?

Hi Kat I will have to check but do not recognise the information you have unfortunately. Richard Livingston is listed as still being alive on the marriage records of his children. Ellen married William John Duff in September 1862 in Banbridge, Sarah married Christopher Fell in Banbridge 1873 then married William McCrory in 1888. My Rachel married my great great grandfather William McCreanor in March 1864 - (Sarah Livingston & William John Duff as witnesses) in Banbridge. And yes they lived in Clare Townland. On the death record Richard us listed as Richard Levingston dying in Lurgan on 28/08/1889 and his wife Jane Livinston listed as a widow dying 5th February 1897 in Lurgan, granddaughter Minnie Fell as an informant.

Hi, yes that is correct. On Irishgenealogy it is listed as under Lurgan so that’s where to find the record

The records of Tullylish COI probably were transcribed by a Mrs. Butler of Louisiana years ago and given to the Mormons.  I copied records from their tape. I found an on-line listing of her work years ago, but my copy of the file now is an .xlr file I can no longer read. The missing children were either baptized in a different church or Mrs. Butler didn't record them which is doubtful.  McCreanor's previous marriage was at Donaghcloney Presbyterian Church where he said he was born about 1839.  Donaghcloney COI has Wm McCreanor bapt by Samuel and Jane of Moygannon in Mar 12, 1838 and Samuel about 1841 with a Thomas McCreanor and Elizabeth having children in Ballynabraggett.  Samuel McCreanor married Jane Major July 5, 1830, both of Donaghcloney Parish in the COI church. There are several churches in the area and the missing baptisms are no doubt in records I do not have.

Yeah William McCreanor was born around then and his parents were Samuel McCreanor and Jane Major - another brick wall of mine as well. Who did he marry before Rachel Livingstone? I will have a look. Thomas McCreanor is a new name to me too which I haven’t heard
