McFie
« on: Tuesday 02 February 21 23:17 GMT (UK) »
I’m looking for any information on Catherine/ Cathrin McFie ( her married and maiden name), maybe born in the 1760s in Bute Scotland. She had a daughter, Mary, with Mathew McFie. She was born around 1783. I’m also looking for information on Mathew/ Matthew.

I think your Catherine McFee is born earlier than 1760s – more likely to be the late 1740s

I can see the following baptisms in Kingarth, Bute for children to parents Matthew McFEE and Catherine. (all available on Scotlands People)
James 1769
Mary 1771
John 1772
James 1774
Margaret 1776
Fergus 1778
Cathrine 1780
Archibald 1784
Mary 1787
Mathew 1789
Robert 1792

Males Heads of Families (1836-40) has a few of those members of the family residing in the village of Kilcatten (Kilchatten) Bay in Kingarth.
Also 1841 census shows a number of McFee names in the same village.
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)
