Doris Armstrong Newcastle.

Hi. I hope everyone is keeping safe and not struggling too much with lockdown.

I am looking for Doris Armstrong was born on the 21 November 1919 the daughter of William Armstrong and Catherine nee Dobson, of Chapel Row Newcastle.
I have not been able to find a marriage, death or any other information on Doris.
I cannot find her on the 1939 census although I have found other members of her family.

Could she have remarried in Northumberland South to R Whitfield in 1947 using surname Dakowska?

I think it very possible that Doris Dakowski and Doris Dakowska are one and the same.
I am looking into this now.... fingers crossed!

This might be nothing but in a freesearch on BNA there seems to be a seaman of the same name as first spouse mentioned in a couple of Scottish newspapers in 1940.  If Doris can't be found in England pre war might she have been in Scotland?  Might she have met first husband there perhaps?  Just a thought.

Yes I have seen that River Tyne Lass. I have also viewed some of his sailing records as a crewman and he is listed as Polish. The last sailing I can find for him is to the US in 1942. The records list him as born in 1916 or 1917.
I have also found a Wieslaw Dakowski born in St Petersburg in 1916 who died in 1943 although it does not give a place of death. It all fits in though.

I will now look in the Scotland records. Thank you.

They may not have the transcript of one the names quite right?
