William Calvert help please ?
« on: Friday 19 February 21 22:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi , i have William Calvert married to Elizabeth Waters, i presume -
i have this because i traced back there children etc all Hunslet Leeds.

so Elizabeth Calvert daughter i have born abt 1818 who married Robert Ramsden. now on the baptism for Elizabeth it says William and Elizabeth also baptised same day is Sarah b 1815
william is Copper ?? maker.
now on Elizabeth calvert marriage father william calvert copper ?? maker  it has Jane Calvert as witness. so i found Jane b 1821 who married Thomas Pemberton - on the 1861 census Jane and Thomas Pemberton is Elizabeth Briggs-  Janes mum.

i trace Elizabeth Briggs to 1841 census with Ann, Ruth and William Calvert. then 1851 with Hnery Briggs husband , Ann Calvert and Robert Pemberton. all says Elizabeth Briggs born Swaledale Yorskshire.
now marriage to Henry briggs 14 Dec 1840 Leeds  is Elizabeth Calvert widow , father John Waters
so i look for marriage for Elizabeth Waters and William Calvert

there is one 1805 Grinton Yorkshire on English Select.

im trying to find a death in Hunslet for William Calvert before 1840 and also where was he born and when?.
any help greatly appriciated

Think I've got my head around it - 1851 is a little odd isn't it with Ann Calvert described as
"daughter to a former husband" like they were divorced or something.

On her marriage (Ann's) father William is described as operative chemist?

There was a William death in 1833 but he was a young man, too young to have married in 1805.

yeah i saw that, also  on Ann baptisim it says william is  a lead minor .
i just thought with her been last child, he may have died just after and she really not know her father and she put Chemist... i have a few who seem to put anything but what they were in there... one included as a totally different name for father... but thats another story that took me year to figure out.

The Ruth marriage I found had father James not William so I backed off thinking it was the wrong Ruth.

Have to say it crossed my mind that William was still around but I don't suppose he was  :-X

could this be possible ??.
i found newspaper death article 1834 bradford observer William Calvert aged 54 Vitrol Manufacturer and shop keeper Hunslet Carr

could Vitrol be - dissolving unreactive materials , Copper , Lead, mercury ?? so technically the shop could be chemist.. if you follow my thoughts ??

Oh well found yes that could be him couldn't it.  If last child was born c1833 a death in 1834 fits nicely.

There's a burial in Hunslet 5 Nov 1834 for a William Calvert married man age 51 - that might be him.

What date was the newspaper article?
