Water Eaton Road Bletchley 1939 General Register
« on: Sunday 21 February 21 09:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I wonder if anyone could help please. Via Google  :-\ I'm trying to identify (if it still exists) my father's and grandfather's house (family name Curtis) on Water Eaton Road from the 1939 General Register. The address given is Albionhurst but for this, and all the adjacent properties there are no numbers only house names. Does anyone know if these were houses which were built and named by the developer or local authority as was common in some areas? The entry listed next to theirs is "No 4 Estate House" which doesn't seem to help. Further down the entries is a Fairlight 10 Water Eaton Road but that doesn't seem to exist now, would that have been the other side of the railway and perhaps where Albionhurst was?

Many thanks

Hi
Advert in Buckingham Advertiser and Free Press 12 May 1951 Property for sale
"The Modern Freehold Semi detatched Dwelling House known as "Albionhurst, 156 Water Eaton Road, Bletchley."

The no 156 appears to be still there on google view but no saying if numbers have altered over the years.

Advert for Fairlight, 150 Water Eaton Road.
The property 156 on google looks likely as it s semi detatched.

Cathy

Thank you very much for the information, that certainly looks as if it’s the house from the 1951 advertisement which links the name to a number. My family had moved from there before then so the sale would not have been connected to them.
