Welsh Death Certificate help please
« on: Saturday 27 February 21 03:21 GMT (UK) »
Thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide. I am stuck on two words in the attached death certificate.
1.  Where died - 23 Royal Cottages ?? - cannot decipher last line
2.  Cause of death - begins with M but not getting any further than that
NB Informant is Samuel Morgan - name and address confirmed though marriage and census.
Any suggestions welcome
Thank you
Melanie

Cause of death “Marasmus” = severe malnutrition

Place looks like “March U.Di”. But not finding an urban district named March

I wonder if it is meant to be Maerdy??   Later on the cert Grffiths St Mardy is mentioned and there is a Griffiths St in Maerdy as well as Royal Cottages  :-\

The parish listed after Griffiths St Mardy on the cert I also think might be Ystradyfodwg

Thank you very much for your help shanreagh, mckha489 and Kay99.  I have another document with "Maerdy" and her place of birth is Ferndale so I am pretty happy that this is correct.  As to dying of malnutrition I know there were some horrific deaths in the 18th and 19th century but I would have thought by 1900 that malnutrition could be managed. Perhaps there were other underlying causes not mentioned on the death certificate?
Thanks
Melanie
