Mulhern Family
« on: Saturday 27 February 21 17:38 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather, Patrick Mulhern was born in Sotland. I think the name of the area was Old or West Kilpatrick on the Scotlish cenus. I believe that Arthur Mulhern would be my great great grandgather, i am guessing he married Annie Mulhern as she is also listed for Old or West Kilpatrick.

They moved back to Ireland sometime after this. I cant find any marriage information for Arthur Mulhern. His name doens't seem to show up for the other cenus in Scotland. I think he shows up in the 1901 cenus for Ireland and isnt married at this stage.

If I want to find Annie Mulherns maiden name through the cenus what it the best way to find out?

When was Patrick born? His birth cert should be available online on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk This will let you confirm his mother's maiden name.....and as a bonus  ::) should also include the date and place of parents' marriage.

From the details you mentioned, this looks like his birth on the SP index:

PATRICK MULHERN
1910
501/ 446
Old or West Kilpatrick

I think they are still in Scotland for the 1911 census. Just from the index, you need to check the original on SP, this looks like the family at Old or West Kilpatrick area:

Arthur 34
Annie 28
Patrick 2
John 1

I have just found Arthur and Annie's marriage in Londonderry. This fits well with the 1901 census entry you found for Arthur already www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Owenreagh/Templemoyle/1525269/

The image of the marriage reg from 1 Jan 1907 is here https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1907/10081/5666741.pdf You will be asked to provide details on the site to be able to view records.

Main link for these records https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

Arthur Mulhern, full age, labourer, working in Clydesbank, Glasgow. Father Patrick, a farmer.
Annie Allen, full age,Argyle St, Derry. Father William Allen, a saddler.

Arthur's birth on 29 Dec 1872 here https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1873/03215/2178979.pdf

Mother Bridget's maiden name of Hasson also is indexed as Hanson/Hassan etc for some of the children's birth regs.
