Prisk Street Hamilton was named by AC Smith the owner of a property in Prisk Street . He named it after Ben Prisk the original owner of the property .The street now comes under the heritage trust

it doesnt seem to want be to download it.
We usually go down for the Anzac service I am sure the names were on the wall but maybe gone now and instead have single white crosses all round the gardens in memory of those that lost their lives I am sure last time they had their names on the crosses . If we go down this year will check it out for you. They only have them out for a few days then take them down again

Well, I've learned something new about Prisk Street!!

Only Edward Paul Prisk is on the memorial wall in Hamilton.

The younger brother,John Rackham Prisk (who served in WW2) is on the memorial at Palmerston North, because that is where he was living when he enlisted.

Both Edward's and Ben's Enlistment papers are free to download from Archives NZ.

As well as John's probate,which has a very poignant transcript of the letter sent to his wife by his commanding officer

Thank you all for the additional information.  Both Edward and John Prisk are on the memoral panels in Hamilton Memorial Park.  There was another brother, Cecil Ben Prisk, who also served in the 1914/18 War in the NZFA.  He survived the war and returned to NZ in 1919.  I can add some photographs if someone can explain how I do that.  Graham

Hi Graham,
         you can add photos when you reply or write your query at bottom  of  your page where you write your message  it will say add attachments and other options .you click on that it will say where they are desktop,photos  documents etc so open that on your own computer and  you can attach .If they  are  too large they wont go thru so you will have to make them smaller . certain sites if  you copy and paste  wont go thru which happened to me yesterday
but  I have never had a problem with photos ..
give it go and try .

After I posted my last message I discovered that my files were far too large to post so that is why i was unsuccessful.  Some of the photographs are 4MB or more so I am not sure how I can make them small enough to post.  If I do make them small enough I expect I will have to upload them over several posts rather than a single post.  Graham

I usually have to down size mine when posting in an email, so I go for 640 X 480.  So if you go for about this size, it should be fine.  Infraview lets you do this.

Apologies Graham - I put 2 and 2 together and made 5 

After I offered to take your photos,I realised that my message might get to you too late,depending where on the planet you are,so decided to go anyway if I hadn't heard.

Only then did I realise there were no Christian names mentioned,so I looked at a transcript of the soldiers names on the memorial done by a past member of the Hamilton branch of NZSG.

On reflection, this could have been an old transcript - before the new memorial was built.

I could only find E P Prisk listed,so did a bit of digging to find the other brothers.John appeared on electoral rolls in Palmerston North,his will was written there, I looked on the War memorial and he was there .

What I didn't realise was that a soldier can be on more than one memorial.

Which I would have done if I'd got as far as the park.

I've tried to attach pictures -they are small enough,but the message doesn't send.
