They look well scrubbed &  their shoes look in a better
condition than one would expect.

They might have washed their faces and hands and shaved in preparation!
I disagree about their shoes. One man was wearing clogs. The other man's shoes look worn.
Fingers of the man standing are slightly discoloured or is it the photo?

The man on the right - wearing clogs, although I don't think they are the wooden soled ones with metal plate clog irons, also appears to be wearing some sort of "jeans" - small hem - could they be "moleskin" trousers?  And the hands and fingers are definitely "well-used" and not too scrubbed.

Totally not asked for in this post, but, I’m from a Colne family, brought up in Colne & I have seen this photo before. I can’t help thinking the chap on the right has such a familiar face..... it’s very frustrating to not know who they are!
