On 22 February, 1917, CSM William Bowie Innes, aged 29, was killed at Sann-i-Yat. He is remembered with honour on the Basra memorial. Son of William & Margaret (Denoon) Innes. He was born at Lochhill, Urquhart, Morayshire on 1st June 1887. He was a Professional Soldier, and signed up with the 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders on 24th February 1906, No. 9365, and served in India. Reaching the rank of Company Sergeant Major, he served in France and in the Middle East during the Great War.
