Pamela Margaret Shaw

Am trying to find out more on Pamela Margaret Shaw. Her parents were Harry Lockwood Shaw (b. 20 Dec 1889, Ashton-under-Lyne) and first wife, Doris Mary Hulme (b. 22 Sep 1898, Ashton-under-Lyne). They were married 4 Jan 1920 in Ashton-under-Lyne. They were divorced in 1930 while still in the UK and Harry married second wife Jane Isabella Evans in Johannesburg on 26 May 1933. The new couple settled in South Africa. Harry died in South Africa 30 Aug 1941 and his Will referred to a hitherto unknown daughter, Pamela Margaret Shaw born 20 Jul 1920, presumably in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Am having difficulty finding much more about Pamela.

Had you checked freebmd for a birth registration?  She was born in 1921

There is a death for a Pamela Margaret Griffin b 21.7.1921 in Sept qtr 1982 Ealing

There is a Dec qtr 1977 marriage in Ealing between Pamela M Shaw & Harry Griffin

Can't find the birth in freebmd. She is listed as being born in 1920 on her father's South African death notice.

Remember that the info on the death reg was given by his second wife who may have known the day & month but got the year wrong

In 1939 is in Staffordshire.  Birthyear 1922.  Have a look at the entry

In three different records, we have three potential dates of birth.

20 July 1920 (1941 Father's Will)
21 July 1921 (Births Records)
20 July 1922 (1939 Census)

Not sure that these all relate to one in the same person?

The only Pamela M Shaw birth in 1922 was in the June qtr - a July birth would be in the September qtr.

The only way to confirm the correct birthdate or marriage is to buy copies of the certs.  Her marriage cert should show her fathers name & the 1921 birth cert will confirm both parents names

The marriage cert should be sufficient - if it confirms her father as Harry Lockwood Shaw then it confirms her birthyear as 1921 via her death reg & birth reg
