Missing Richards Family
« on: Monday 08 March 21 13:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone trace these people after 1901?

Thomas Richards - born in Bridport, Dorset c1850, son of Joseph Richards and his wife, Sarah Henley.
He married Jane Readman (Redman) in Stockton-on-Tees on the 18th December 1871.
Jane had been born in Stockton in 1850, daughter of William Readman (Redman) and his wife, Sarah Coates.
The couple had five children; Alfred Thomas, born during the September quarter of 1872, Frank Coates, born around 1876 (no birth registration can be traced), George Francis, born around 1879, (no birth registration can be traced), Sarah Jane, born during the June quarter of 1881, and Emma, baptised on the 14th June 1883.

The family remained in Stockton, in 1881, they were residing in 22 Browns Row, in 1891, they were living in 15 Durham Street, and 1901, in 20 John Street.

Son, Frank, married Lilian Smithson in Stockton on the 30th May 1898, and, although he is missing from the census in 1901, she with her in-laws in John Street, with their daughter, Ivy (Ivysolet).

Frank and Lilian had two children in Sunderland, before returning to Thornaby by 1911, and then, back to Sunderland; Lilian was living in Brandling Street, Monkwearmouth in 1939, and died there in 1954.

However, I cannot find any trace of Thomas and Jane Richards in 1911, nor any trace of their death,  or what might have happened to their daughters, Sarah Jane and Emma.

Can anybody help?

Thanks
Sue

I think he might be with his daughter Emma (on 1911 census as Mary Emma)

Hi Jen

Yes just fathomed that out, they married 8th February 1902, and their son, Francis William, was born in Sunderland on the 16th May 1907, before they returned to the Stockton/Thornaby area.

Thanks once more!
